Keep distracting apps out of class—and useful tools in it. Teachers choose what’s allowed. Students keep their phones. Normal access returns when class ends.

No collecting phones. No handing them back. Just a class routine that everyone understands.

Start now or use your recurring schedule. Students enter the period, and their phones follow your class rules.
Each phone stores the class ending time locally. Restrictions are designed to expire even if its connection drops.
A class quiz. A research activity. A photo of a lab experiment. Allow the apps you need, then stop allowing them when you’re done.
Allow the browser for a web-based Kahoot.
Make Camera available for the activity.
Stop allowing. Your class rules return.
Browser access isn’t limited to one website. iPhones may need Apple’s one-time app selection before a newly allowed app is available.
Teachers can check participation and reported protection status without reading what’s on a student’s phone.

Get in touchNo. Timbrae runs on the student’s phone. They keep the device while apps that are not allowed for the class are restricted. There are no pouches, collection boxes, or additional hardware to buy.
There are test builds for iPhone with iOS 17 or later and Android 8 or later. Setup and device permissions differ. On iPhone, Apple’s app picker may be needed for allowed apps. Ask for a walkthrough before planning a rollout.
Yes. Choose apps such as Browser and Camera, select Allow apps, and select Stop allowing when you are done. You don’t need to choose a number of minutes or create another class. Connected phones receive the change; an iPhone may need to open Timbrae or finish app setup first.
The scheduled class ending time is stored on the phone, so an outage should not extend the class restrictions. Changes made during class, including ending early or changing allowed apps, need to reach the phone. A missing update is not proof of tampering.
Phone and emergency access remain available, and Timbrae includes separate health-access and teacher-approved temporary-access options. Individual needs should be reviewed before anyone participates. A school must keep its own emergency and accommodation procedures.
Timbrae is in early alpha, with testing currently limited to consenting adults. We’re welcoming conversations with teachers, professors, and school leaders. K–12 use requires further product readiness and legal review; this is not a public school rollout or a claim of certified compliance.
